Appeal For Witnesses After Suspected Arson in Hanover Area of Brighton

Police are investigating a suspected arson on Ewart Steet in Brighton in the early hours of Sunday morning (December 3).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue were called around midnight and then informed police they believed the fire had been started deliberately.

No-one was in the property at the time and no-one was injured, however extensive damage has been caused to the ground floor and rear of the house.

Detective Sergeant Joseph Jardine said: “We are investigating the exact cause of the fire but we believe it was started deliberately. We have spoken to a number of neighbours but are appealing to anyone who saw anything else on Saturday night or early hours of Sunday mornning in the Ewart Street, Islingword Street or Southover Street area.

“Thankfully no-one was hurt.”
