Brighton’s newest seafront attraction has finally announced its opening date. The Brighton Zip will be launched later this Summer, ahead of the school holidays.
The Brighton Zip will be a 300 metre long, adrenaline junkie’s dream, in place of where the Brighton Wheel and “Pizza Beach” once were. Apparently, the construction has been delayed due to unforeseen bad whether, but organisers still maintain optimism that the attraction will be in place by the end of July.
The impressive attraction is being delivered by the same company who brought us the i360 and has even been described as “a sporty alternative” to it. The structure will consist of a Helter Skelter fairground ride which is to be climbed before sailing down the zip to a boat-shaped landing platform along the beach.
Planning for the ride to be open between 10am and 11pm, the ride has caused some concern about noise among local residents, but is estimated to bring in around 32,000 customers per year.
Manager of the Brighton Zip project, Delso Da Silva, has said: “The landing site is being constructed at the moment. We have fallen behind a little bit because of the weather…” but not to worry because “The tower itself will not take a long time to assemble and we will definitely be open for when the kids break up.”
