David Bowie-Approved Instagram Series Premiers Tomorrow

Before he passed away, the late, great David Bowie approved an Instagram series that will accompany his final album, Blackstar. The team behind the InstaMiniSeries were granted an early listen to Bowie’s 17th record so they could create their own “visual interpretations of his songs, with no limits or preconditions on his part”

Blackstar was released days before David Bowie’s death

Rollin Stone reports that the idea of the InstaMiniSeries is to take the audience “on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the albums music, lyrics and artwork. Each episode of the series is sure to capture the imaginations of all who experience it and will undoubtedly lead to endless speculation and discussion of meaning, metaphor and intention.”

There will be 16 episodes of the MiniSeries entitled Unbound: A InstaMiniSeries with new episodes posted every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The series will star actress Patricia Clarkson and Rookie Magazine founder Tavi Gevinson. The writer and producer of the series told Rolling Stone “David Bowie was a trailblazer, not just in the world of music, but in the art of storytelling, whether it through lyrics, melodies, film, theatre or mythical persona he never fails to transcend WHAT WAS and set the tone – and the bar – for what CAN BE. As storytellers and music lovers, who better for us to be inspired by than David Bowie?” The first episode of the series will premier tomorrow, and you can watch the trailer below.

"UNBOUND: A ★ InstaMiniSeries” In the Fall of 2015, David Bowie gave us unique pre-release access to the music from ★ (pronounced ‘Blackstar’), his 28th studio album, allowing us to create our own visual interpretations of his songs, with no limits or preconditions on his part. Completed in December 2015, UNBOUND: A★InstaMiniSeries takes the audience on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the album’s music, lyrics and artwork. Each episode of the series is sure to capture the imaginations of all who experience it and will undoubtedly lead to endless speculation and discussion of meaning, metaphor and intention. We are honored to have had this opportunity and hope you'll join our 16 episode series, premiering February 25th. New episode every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
