Delicious Crackers – Healthy Bread Alternative

Bread can play a big part in our diet, especially when our lives are busy and don’t leave much room for food preparation. However we often come to the point where we realise that we need to make better choices – and quite often that involves cutting down on bread. It can be tricky but bread alternatives don’t need to taste worse than or be that much different to real bread.

We can also just stick to the good and healthy stuff in the bread and continue to enjoy that with our favourite topping, as long as that is a healthy choice. Here is one recipe that is easy to make and delicious. I  love these crackers with either a little butter and smoked salmon or with tuna salad. I’ll share the tuna salad recipe soon as that is good as well as healthy. Enjoy!

Crisp Bread

  • 100ml sesame seeds
  • 100ml olive oil
  • 200ml water
  • 100ml sunflower seeds
  • 100ml flax seeds
  • 100ml jumbo rolled oats
  • 100ml coconut oil
  • 100ml almond flour
  • 150ml spelt
  • 2-3 tsp. sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
Blend all the ingredients together into a ball. Take half of the dough and flatten it out onto baking paper. The thinner the dough becomes the crunchier the final result will be. Cut the recipe into small squares before putting them into the oven and baking them for 15-20 minutes on 200°C. Do the same with the rest of the dough.
