If you fancy spending the summer abroad working at an American summer camp, it’s not too late to secure yourself a position across the pond. In fact, you can pretty much plan your summer in a single day and here at Bjournal, we’ll tell you exactly where, how and why you should attend a Camp America recruitment fair later this month.
On 23rd January, the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London, will open its doors to over 200 summer camps that are looking to hire staff for a variety positions later this year. This route is your best chance of securing a place at a camp that interests you, as you approach directors to introduce yourself and negotiate whether a position is available.
Although you still have to complete an online application prior to this, meeting the camp directors directly cuts out the middle man and gives you the best chance of making a good impression face to face. By the time you leave the Conference Centre, your summer could be sealed and all that remains is sorting out your visa.
Whether you specialise in water skiing, art or soccer coaching, there will no doubt be a camp looking for someone with your skills. On arrival, be bold and sell yourself to the wide range of potential employers. Take your time to access which camp takes your fancy and when you’ve found a suitable choice, give it everything you’ve got in the one-to-one interview.
