Tracy Patsalides was found in an Eastbourne seafront shelter on Tuesday.
A 38-year-old man, Wayne Marshall, has been charged by Sussex Police of murder at the Eastbourne seafront.
This comes after the body of a 40-year-old woman was discovered in a seafront shelter.
The body was found at the King Edward’s Parade section of Eastbourne seafront at 02:55 am.
Tracy Patsalides lived in the Eastbourne area, but at no fixed address, as did Marshall.
A post-mortem revealed that Tracy died as a result of a series of injuries inflicted to the head and neck.
Marshall was not initially arrested in relation to the murder.
He was picked up on suspicion of burglary, with which he will also be charged.
He will appear at Brighton Magistrates Court today via video link.
The swift nature of the proceedings highlights the severity of the act and the certainty of Sussex Police.
Colin Pirie, Detective Chief Inspector from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, has spoken out about the saddening event: “Our thoughts are with Tracy’s family and friends at this desperately sad time.”
He has made clear that Sussex Police will continue to handle the matter with the utmost seriousness: “Our investigation is continuing to build the picture of the circumstances surrounding the death of Tracy.”
Pirie also commended the Eastbourne community: “I am extremely grateful for the co-operation of the local community in engaging with us and assisting with our enquiries.”
