Stephanie Newton

You guessed it, it’s that time of the week again where we bring you the hottest picks of the week’s newest releases…

Singles

Dizzee Rascal – Wot U Gonna Do

With the grime star’s highly anticipated sixth studio album, ‘Raskit’, just around the corner, Dizzee Rascal has released another single of the soon-to-come album. Following on coherently with ‘Space’, the last single the rapper released, ‘Wot U Gonna Do’ has the same angsty vibe you’d expect. You could say this is a return to Dizzee’s roots, with a similar vibe to previous hits such as ‘I Luv U’ – Even the stylisation of the song title is alike. Despite that, you can certainly expect some new flavours incorporated in his sound.

Coldplay – A L I E N S

Back with a new single, with all proceeds going to the Migrant Offshore Aid Foundation, Coldplay give us latest hit-to-be, ‘A L I E N S’.  The newest single will be on their forthcoming ‘Kaleidoscope’ EP, due to be released 14th July. With a more upbeat beat than is typical of them, but distinct vocals, this single is sure to be liked by fans of the band across the world. Ending in a harmonious build up of strings, the song definitely stands out.

Zedd with Liam Payne – Get Low

Ex-One Direction member, Liam Payne, is back with a summer anthem. Featuring on producer, Zedd’s, newest track ‘Get Low’, the song is sure to be a favourite for holiday goers across the UK. With an upbeat feel to it and seductive lyrics on Payne’s part, this is one to make both Zedd and One Direction fans very happy…

Kesha – Praying

Back with her first single after four years, Kesha’s latest release is a thing of beauty. With angelic vocals and meaningful lyrics, it’s hard not to root for the young singer in this song. This single represents the artist’s struggles with depression and hopelessness, but ultimately offers an uplifting tone.

Albums

21 Savage – Issa Album

American rapper, 21 Savage, has just released his debut studio album, ‘Issa Album’. The album features production from Metro Boomin, Southside, DJ Mustard, Pi’erre Bourne, Zaytoven and more. The main star of this album is Savage’s quick witted lyrics. If rap’s your thing this is certainly worth a listen.

Lucy Rose – Something’s Changing

Lucy Rose is back with her fourth album and it’s full of songs showcasing her angelic vocal abilities and gentle guitar melodies. She’s even managed to get a great feature artist in the form of The Staves – Definitely worth a listen…

Haim – Something To Tell You

The American soft rock trio of sisters have returned with the follow up album to their debut. It presents listeners with the same disjointed yet enjoyable sound as their previous material, with a strong emphasis on sister-sister harmonies.
