Sometimes it can feel like Brighton almost has too much to offer. The idea of choosing an activity out of all the city has to give can be daunting at times. So, if you’re stuck for date ideas (remember, friend-dates are a thing too!), have a look at our top suggestions.
You Scream, I Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream
Being a seaside town, going for ice cream may seem like an obvious option. But there is more to Brighton that just Mr Whippies on the beach. If you venture into the town, whether that be in the North lanes or further a field to Kemptown, you’ll find yourself inundated with ice cream parlours. Usually located on quaint little corners, traditional ice cream parlours can offer a sense of nostalgia that money can’t buy. It does help that the ice cream is pretty nice too…
Visit An Attraction
If making eyes whilst ice cream drips down your chin isn’t your thing, why not visit one of Brighton’s many attractions? If you’re willing to pay a little you could have a whole day of fun at one of our local activity spots. While you’re by the sea why not swing by the aquarium and admire all the pretty fishies?
Picnic At The Pavilion
What could be better on a hot Summer’s day than looking up to a blue sky and a view like this? Little compares to the majestic architecture of the dome, so how about spending an afternoon admiring it? Simply pack up a picnic with whatever you and your date fancy, bring a picnic rug and you’re sorted! Minutes walk from the North lanes, this is a great place to stop and take in the city for a spot of lunch. For bonus points: Bring a bottle of bubbly and strawberries.
Woo Your Date At The Arcade
It may sound cliche, but arcades make for great date activities. Whether it’s a first date or a hundred and first date, you’ll find a way to giggle the day away on Brighton Palace Pier Arcade. If it’s winning your companion a cuddly toy to take home, getting that naff keyring that had been teetering on the edge of the 2p machine or just spending time making fun of each other – you won’t be bored at the arcade.
Shop The Day Away
If you fancy a wander, a trip to the North lanes is always a winner. With numerous shops full of quirky hand crafted souvenirs, vintage shirts galore and a plentiful supply of art, you could easily spend an afternoon down here. Try setting your partner a challenge – they have to find the most eclectic thing they can under £5 for example! There are plenty of reasons to enjoy Brighton and shopping down the lanes is certainly one of them.
If All Else Fails…
If all else fails and you really are stumped for ideas, the seafront alone has plenty of activities! Skip stones together or take a romantic stroll along the shore! If you like you can check out our post about how to spend a day there cheaply, here.
