Police Appeal For Witnesses of an Assault That Left Victim Hospitalised
Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault that left a 40 year old man in hospital, with two suspected bleeds on the brain, and have released CCTV footage of the suspect in the hope for assistance in their investigation.
The incident which took place on Middle Street, Brighton, last Sunday at about 1am began when the victim challenged a young man about littering. According to Sussex police the victim, who has not been named, was sat with his friends, eating food outside when he saw the suspect throw the remainder of his takeaway chips and their packaging on the floor.
When the victim confronted him about his littering, the suspect approached him and pushed him in the chest, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head on the pavement, which caused two suspected bleeds on the brain. The victim was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital where he remained for treatment.
The suspect has been described as being a white male, in his early to mid twenties, around 5 foot 8, with light hair and a full beard, wearing a blue button up shirt. The police have released CCTV images, and are appealing for anyone who recognises the man pictured or witnessed the incident to come forward.
Detective Constable Jon Moore has said “We are keen to speak to the man on CCTV about this incident and would like to hear from any witnesses. Please contact us.”
