Just a 20 minute drive from the city centre the Barley Mow at Selmeston is a hidden gem. Out in rural Sussex situated between Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne the Barley Mow sits conveniently off Lewes Road. The Barley Mow freehouse is a pub where something is always happening so after you’ve wined and dined there are plenty of opportunities to carry on the fun. It has its own camping site, farm and even a drive in cinema during the summer months. Without exception there is something to do every day down at the Barley Mow from Monday cards night to a more typical Pub Quiz night held every Wednesday.
What really sets this place apart is its quite exceptional food. The menu is diverse and caters for all. The restaurant also aims at using local produce where it can in support of Sussex farmers. On the weekends, as well as the set menu there is of course the Barley Mow roast which is quite sumptuous. There are also options fresh from the BBQ and even stone baked pizzas rustled up on the sites very own pizza hovel. Why not enjoy a glass of homemade pimms and a bit to eat whilst you enjoy live music on a Sunday at the Barley Mow?
This place is a hidden but not so distant gem.
