Seafront Bomb Scare

Last night The Grand hotel was evacuated after a phone tip was received anonymously alleging there was a bomb in the building.

Sussex Police said nothing was found from the searches that took place by specially trained officers, police dogs and military ordnance disposal experts.

The A259 King’s Road was closed from the Sealife Centre to the i360 tower, from 4:30pm when the police were alerted to the threat by management at the King’s Road Hotel.

The search ended at around 9:15pm and staff and guests were allowed back into the hotel and roads were reopened.

The call is now being regarded as a hoax, and police are searching for the caller.
