Here at Brighton Journal we are counting down the days till the Summer season begins and there’s a lot to be excited about when it comes to the latest beauty trends. From metallic lips to braided tresses and dewy skin to sequinned eye designs, we have compiled the 10 hottest beauty trends to look out for and try yourself.
Into the Blue
As seen amongst many fashion shows this year, blue seems to be the go-to colour of the catwalk season. From eye-liner flicks to a full cobalt blue lid, there are so many ways to incorporate this pop of colour trend into your everyday make up routine. Jourdan Dunn rocks the blue shade here, walking the runway at the Diane Von Furstenberg Spring’16 show.
Barely there yet
With Summer fast approaching, a natural looking dewy glow is something we all strive for. The basic essentials to create this look are a touch of light foundation, a good highlighter on the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and chin and some cream blush for the apples of your cheek. This will endeavour to create a youthful and fresh ‘I woke up like this’ look.
When it comes to our make up bags, most of us will have our go-to statement red lipstick to add a touch of glamour to any outfit. Red lipstick is as classic as a little black dress and could be seen at many Ready-To- Wear 2016 shows this year, including that of Dolce & Gabbana as pictured above.
Who doesn’t love a bit of sequins and glitter? The Ashish SS16 show definitely proved this with a confetti wonderland of colour and sparkles. Although quite an adventurous look, when it comes to the upcoming festival season we feel this look is perfect, we’ll definitely be trying it out! Watch this space..
All tied up
All our bad hair day prayers have been answered! Why not introduce a headscarf to that tangled mane? As seen above at Dolce & Gabanna, these headscarves are a perfect solution when time is of the essence. Hair can be tied and braided in copious ways to create a perfect Summer beach look.
Never would we ever think of putting pink pigment on our eyelids until we saw Jill Stuart showcasing this look at her Spring’16 show. This whimsical shade is perfect for the Summer months as it evokes a softer more natural look, perfect for daytime wear.
Even before Kylie Jenner came along with her popular lipstick colours, there has always been eccentric metallic colour shades on the market. This futuristic look, created by Pat McGrath at Prada, is not for the faint-hearted and is worn to create an impact. Do you dare to go bold?
Get it Twisted
There are so many ways to work a braid, from a french to a fishtail, they will never go out of style. However, braids on the catwalk have been tousled and reworked to create a bed head look which means lesser work for us, result! So grab your tail comb and give those tresses the messy bohemian braided hairstyle of the season.
Dress up your Tresses
Adding that extra bit of glamour and style, hair accessories are a perfect addition to glam up any outfit. Alberta Ferreti incorporated gold twisted embellishments in her catwalk shows which provided a stylish messy up-do braid, ideal for a day right through to the night look.
Colours of the Year
When it comes to nails we all seem to be getting more and more adventurous with our choice of colour palettes and quirky nail art designs. But how about getting it bang on colour trend this Summer by adopting a Rose Quartz or a Serenity shade. These 2 colours were named Pantone’s 2016 colours of the year and are perfect soft pastel tones for the coming Summer months.
