On Tuesday 20th February, shortly before 4pm, police prevention enforcement officers stopped a white Mercedes-Benz A200 car within the Denne Road car park, Horsham, and searched the car.
A 21-year-old man from Horsham was driving the car, and was arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis, a Class B drug, with intent to supply. He was also accused of taking a motor vehicle without consent, not having insurance and possession of an offensive weapon (a hammer).
A search of a flat in London Road, Horsham, and a BMW car in the same road shortly afterwards, disclosed more cannabis. Several hundreds of pounds cash was also found.
A 22-year-old woman found at the searched address was also arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
Another search carried out at an address in Crawley Road, Horsham, proved to be inconclusive. While these enquiries continue both suspects have been released under investigation.
Inspector Sarah Leadbeatter, of Horsham police, said: “The action being taken to tackle illegal drugs activity should leave no one in any doubt that such crimes will not be tolerated. We will continue to make every effort to detect and disrupt drug abuse in our community, and to bring those responsible before the courts.”
