Summer is all about outdoors! Whether you are a sports person who always has to be on the move as soon as you step out of your door or whether you just want to chill out in a nice and sunny (or shady) spot, there are some great outdoor events coming up this summer that are worth checking out!
Simply take part!
That’s the idea behind Brighton and Hove’s biggest sporting festival, the annual Takepart! Celebrating sport, dance and physical activities, the festival is dedicated to giving people of all ages the chance to try out different sports activities and hosts a wide variety of free events to attend!
The festival runs from Saturday, June 17, until Sunday, July 2. The official launch takes place this Saturday on The Level between 12 pm and 5 pm with more than 70 different activities to try!
Paddle around Brighton’s Pier!
Considered to be Europe’s biggest beach and watersports festival returns to Hove Lawns on the first weekend in July! Like every year, Paddle Round The Pier will bring together the best watersports and beach activities for you to try! Like every year, Hove Lawns will turn into a bustling Paddle Village featuring loads of entertainment and free live music.
The Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 1 and 2, on Hove Lawns and on the nearby beach and seafront area.
Relax through the summer months!
The second weekend in July, Brighton is gonna be all about yoga, nutrition, and meditation as the Brighton Yoga Festival takes over the County Cricket Ground in Hove. Running for two days, the UK’s largest free yoga festival will give you the chance to try out a wide variety of yoga and meditation classes run by some of the country’s best teachers.
The Brighton Yoga Festival will be on for Saturday and Sunday, July 8 and July 9. Doors open at 10 am on Saturday at the Sussex County Cricket Ground in Hove.
As soon as it becomes dark…
This summer, Brighton’s Preston Manor will once again turn into a big open air cinema as the San Miguel Picturehouse Pop-Up will present another series of outdoor screenings. Running on several weekends in July and August, the event series features films such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Stand By Me, Moulin Rouge and Hairspray.
Shows will start around 9.15 pm (or as soon as it starts getting dark), but doors open at 7pm. So make sure to be on time to get a good spot! For detailed information, see here.
