Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery of a woman in Hollingdean Road, Brighton.

The victim is a woman in her early 20s. She was walking down Hollingdean Road just after 1.10am on Wednesday 7th February, after leaving the N25 night bus at the Gyratory, near the Lewes Road Sainsbury’s.

The woman (who was wearing a pink puffer jacket) was approached by a silver car and asked for directions. While she was engaging with the suspects in the vehicle, the passenger grabbed her handbag.

The driver is described as a mixed race woman with dark hair in a ponytail and the passenger as a white man with shaggy, mouse brown hair.

Detective Constable Thomas Duffy said: “We would like to speak with anyone who was in the area of the Gyratory, Brighton, who spotted a silver vehicle or noticed any suspicious behaviour.

“The victim has been left shaken by this incident. She held onto the bag and was dragged along the floor for a short distance and is lucky to have suffered only small scratches.”
