Brighton and Hove Albion have completed the signing of Ecuadorian youngster Billy Arce from Ecuadorian side, CSD Independiente Del Valle on undisclosed terms.

In what has been a busy summer transfer window for the Albion, the signing of Arce becomes the clubs tenth signing of the summer  and adds to a list of exciting new recruits.

The 20-year-old left winger and forward has signed a four-year deal that will see him contracted with the Albion until 2022, but he will spend the upcoming 2018/2019 season with the La Liga 2 club Extremadura UD on a season-long loan deal.

Arce first signed as youth player for Ecuadorian Serie A Club, Sport Emelec in 2012. In 2013 and still a youth player, Arce moved to Independiente del Valle, a football club based in Sangolquí, Ecuador and also a Serie A club.

The winger made his first team debut for Independiente on 5 February 2017, which saw him begin his professional football career competing at the highest level of football in the country.

He went on to finish his first senior campaign with 12 goals in 39 appearances for Independiente, a season which saw Arce become the clubs second highest goal scorer that season and the club finishing third in the league.

Before his move to Brighton, Arce had made a total of 22 appearances for Independiente during the current 2018 season, scoring seven goals.

This move to the Albion will be the first senior transfer of Arce’s career, and he leaves the Ecuadorian club as one of the country’s top prospects having scored 19 goals in 56 appearances across all competitions.

Albion’s pathway development manager David Weir, said, “We are delighted to sign Billy. He is an exciting young player with very good potential.

Weir added, “We will monitor his progress over the course of the season during his time with Extremadura UD, and we hope the loan move will enable him to continue his development here in Europe.”

Albion start their 2018/2019 Premier League campaign this Saturday 11 August at Vicarage Road against Watford, where they will be hoping to get off to a good start.
