The Brighton team hope to repeat their victory met against the Gunners back in March this year, with a 2-1 result, after five previous losses against the North East London team.
Despite a confident first half to the season, Chris Hughton, Brighton and Hove Albion manager, said: “When you’re Brighton in the Premier League, only in your second season, every period for us is a tricky period; every game that we play is a difficult game.
“We’re going through a number of games in a short period of time, and we’ll have to play at a level to get something from the matches.”
Goals from their previous victory came from Glenn Murray and Lewis Dunk, who will serve his one-match ban today after being sent off against Bournemouth.
However, defender, Shane Duffy, will return to play after a three game suspension from a red card against derby rivals, Crystal Palace.
Albion midfielder, Dale Stephens, said, “It’s a big game in front of our home supporters and I think our record at the Amex Stadium speaks for itself.
“It’s proved to be a big thing for us both last season and during this campaign, and it’s one that the fans will look forward to.
“We have good memories of this fixture last season, we have to use those experiences, we’ll approach it full of confidence and I know everyone will be ready to go.”
Jose Izquierdo and Alireza Jahanbakhsh, both wingers for Albion, will continue to stay off the pitch due to injuries.
Brighton currently sit comfortably at 13th in the league, gaining 21 points in 18 matches and making a good start to the first half of the season.
Although confidence is key from Albion today, Arsenal have only lost one of their last 13 league matches on Boxing Day.
Brighton haven’t won a Boxing Day fixture since 2005, beating QPR.
Kick off for Boxing Day match Brighton & Hove Albion v Arsenal is at the Amex Stadium at 5.15pm, shown on Sky Sports.
