As usual we have compiled a list featuring the very best live music in Brighton for the week ahead so that you don’t have to! This week’s list features a fantastic mix of artists from a whole range of genres, including ‘real Alabama rock-and-roll’ , folk, heavy metal, jazz, and funk, so take a look!

Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires @ Prince Albert – Monday 3rd September

‘Real Alabama rock-and-roll’ band, Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires, return to the Prince Albert this Monday, playing songs from their new double LP! This four piece from Birmingham, Alabama, include Lee, Eric Wallace and brothers Adam & Blake Williamson, and their music draws deeply from punk, but also soul, power pop, country, and gospel. Fans are in store for an evening of sprawling and visceral sounds, so for some real Alabama rock-and-roll, come on down!

Erin Rae and the Meanwhiles @ The Hope & Ruin – Tuesday 4th September 

Erin Rae and the Meanwhiles play live this Tuesday in Brighton at the Hope and Ruin! Tennessee born and raised folk singer, Erin Rae McKaskle, with her band the Meanwhiles, will perfroming songs from her second full-length album ‘Putting On Airs’, which was released in June 2018. Along with her band, come and see this effortlessly talented singer who fuses folk, indie-rock and psych-rock sounds together, for an evening of beautiful live music!

Hannah Trigwell @ The Brunswick – Wednesday 5th September

English singer-songwriter from Leeds, Hannah Trigwell, plays live this Wednesday at The Brunswick in Hove! As well as performing songs from her debut album ‘RED’, the folk singer will also be chatting about the recording and writing process for this new record. Fans can expect a great evening consisting of emotional acoustic ballads, upbeat pop tunes + electric guitar looper action. Limited tickets!

Puppy @ Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar – Thursday 6th September

Heavy Metal band Puppy perform this Thursday at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar! Bridging the gap between their childhood love of Heavy Metal with the ’90s American Indie music of their formative years, London-based band Puppy are made up of Jock Norton (vocals, guitars), Billy Howard Price (drums) and Matthew Rickelton (bass). The trio describe themselves as “the sound of growing up listening to Metallica and Pavement in equal measure”, while some critics have compared them to Weezer covering Pearl Jam.

Youngblood Brass Band @ The Haunt – Friday 7th September

Performing at The Huant this Friday are Youngblood Brass Band, a ten-membered brass band from Oregon, Wisconsin, United States. Started by students at an Oregon High School in 1995, Youngblood Brass Band have taken the form of a brass band and morphed it into a punked-out hip-hop behemoth of groove and purpose. Having been unleashing their crash course in genre-bending on stages worldwide since 2000, come along this Friday and see this favourite riot jazz / hip-hop ensemble, blowing up the stage!

Incognito @ Concorde 2 – Saturday 8th September

British acid jazz band Incognito headline Concorde 2 this Saturday! Since releasing their debut album ‘Jazz Funk’ in 1981, the band have carved out a successful career spanning over four decades! Incognito currently consists of Jean-Paul ‘Bluey’ Maunick, the band’s leader, singer, guitarist, composer, and record producer, and a large number of other musicians. As a band with deep roots in the 1970s jazz/funk/soul world, fans can expect an evening full of grooves, driving rhythms and smooth vocals! This is definitely not an event to be missed for all Jazz enthusiasts!
