Do you want to take part in Pride celebrations and be environmentally friendly?
Brighton Pride is looking for ‘Glitterbug’ volunteers to help with recycling and correct waste disposal at this year’s Pride in the Park.
If you want to take part in this year’s celebration whilst helping the planet this is the perfect opportunity for you: you will gain free access to the park and will work alongside a great team to keep the park clean and tidy.
You will be volunteering on the 3rd and 4th of August, and some of your duties will be:
- Helping festival-goers using the recycling stations correctly;
- Collecting Pride’s reusable cups;
- Distributing water across the site.
Brighton Pride is actively trying to reduce its environmental impact in 2019 with the introduction of a reusable cup scheme and the banning of plastic straws, which should reduce by 30% the amount of waste produced by Pride that is incinerated every year.
Water will also be sold in cartons and cans rather than in plastic bottles, and there will be taps available across Preston Park for people to refill their reusable bottles.
Fancy dress is strongly encouraged and although volunteers will be working, it is still a great opportunity to have fun and enjoy the festival.
Volunteers can also request performance-based references at the end of the festival. You can fill in this form to take part in this volunteering opportunity.
