Kemptown’s Bar Broadway, (which specialises in its ‘lights, camera, action’ theme), host a pub quiz every Monday. In keeping with the bar itself, the quiz follows a showbiz theme. Entry will cost you just £1 with the chance to win a whopping £50 bar tab! However it gets even more exciting; If the winning team answers all questions correctly they will win a cash jackpot, which rolls forward every week either until it is won or until it hits £500.

Tuesday – 8pm @ The Grand Central

Brighton’s much loved, centrally located pub, The Grand Central hosts an exciting pub quiz every Tuesday. Unlike most, this one’s a smartphone quiz, which means no pen and paper allowed! The quiz can be described as more like a game show than a pub quiz – simply bring along your smartphone or tablet and join the fun. To make things even better, the quiz takes place in the theatre upstairs, (The Nightingale Room), giving you a gorgeous setting to test your knowledge in. Entry will cost you just £2 and gives you the chance of winning a £30 jackpot to spend on food and drink!

Wednesday – 8pm @ Sidewinder

Sidewinder is known for its lovely beer garden but did you know it’s just as good for pub quizzes? Every week the Kemptown pub welcomes customers to come in, have a drink and join in with their less than typical pub quiz. They say that you shouldn’t expect any politics rounds here but instead prepare for cryptic clues and interactive games. Although be warned, if you’re seen using your mobile phone, you will be embarrassingly punished! Entry is just £1, (although if you pay £1 more you can be entered in ‘Play Your Cards Right’, offering you the chance to win a rolling jackpot) and you could be in with the chance to win £50 worth of drinks or even cash!

If you want a classic pub quiz, check out the Duke of Wellington in Upper Gloucester Road. It only runs once a month, on the last Sunday each month, but you’ll go a long way to find a better pub quiz in Brighton. It has everything, pictures, music, general knowledge and a crippler of a last round. There’s also now a Snowball game at the end of the quiz. Added to which, it is always a really enjoyable, lively atmosphere and a good mix of teams.
