Explaining The World Joe Jacobs’ Way! A ‘Ripe’ Comedy Review!

Explaining The World Joe Jacobs’ Way! A ‘Ripe’ Comedy Review!

‘You, what is your name? What do you think of when you hear the word ‘ripe’?’ That’s how Joe Jacobs takes his audience straight into his stand-up comedy performance, trying to make sense of the world we live in.

Being part of Lamb Comedy Productions‘ line-up for the Fringe festival, the comedian was at Nowhere Man last night with his show ‘Ripe’. Why ‘Ripe’? Well, it seems that not only food but also humans have a best-before-date.

When you go to his show, be prepared! It might happen that you become part of his jokes or will be asked to imitate weird throat clearing noises. The comedian plays with his audience who also gets the chance to make jokes on his behalf.

Does the comedian get upset when a joke coming from his audience earns more laughter than his own one? Not at all! You can see that he enjoys the intercation with his spectators, regularly sharing their laughter.

Obviously feeling pretty comfortable in front of his audience, Joe doesn’t hesitate to make fun of himself. When he takes a heroic posture, asking whether he resembles a Greek god, it is impossible not to laugh!

Who would have known that explaining everyday things and situations could be so funny? Here is Joe Jacobs with how he sees the world! Rap music becomes nothing but a CV or a cover letter turned into music and there suddenly seems to be a link between the roots of Islam and an innocent smoothie!

Religion, mental illness, sexism, relationships… nothing seems to be safe from his jokes, not even himself. You might take a second to wonder whether his life really is that bad when he tells you that, apparently, a Domino’s pizza has got a better quality of life than he has, before you crack out laughing.

Joe Jacobs will again be at Nowhere Man tonight at 9 pm for a final Fringe performance. For other Lamb Comedy shows, see here.
