Fatboy Slim auctions signed “pizza box” to raise money for Hove Lagoon
Local legend, Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) has generously donated one of his signed “Pizza Boxes” containing a special remastered 180g vinyl of his iconic second album “You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby”.
The limited edition donation is one of his reissued albums released earlier this year, to commemorate the 20th anniversary celebration of “You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby”. The DJ has paid tribute to Brighton within the boxes by signing the phrase: “Oh we do love to be beside the seaside” inside them. The internationally renowned DJ has also donated a t-shirt to aid local group ‘Friends of Hove Lagoon (FoHL)’ in order to raise money for the renovation of Hove Lagoon.
Freshly Baked in Brighton!
To aid with the green renovation of the popular local park and water sports centre, Brighton & Hove Council has offered to fund some of the project. FoHL are also looking at additional sources of funding such as applying to The Rampion Fund.
Plans include natural plantings, wildflowers and a herb garden.
Popular dog walking spot and children’s park faces renovation plans that hope to replant many of the natural flowerbeds within the lawn. FoHL hope to draw in more visitors after the restoration, as well as restoring natural wildlife habitat.
The new design of Hove Lagoon will be consulted on comprehensively with local residents and businesses as well as FoHL supporters before it’s finalised. The hope is that the project will be a springboard to redevelop other areas in Hove that need an uplift, including the lawns along Hove seafront.
The auction will be at 10am on Wednesday 12th December 2018 at Brighton General Auctions, with viewings from Tuesday 11th December between 9am and 6pm.
