There are a plethora of great gigs happening in Brighton this week. From the electronic artist O’Flynn to the Celtic sound of Dean Owens, we have selected a variety of artists from different genres to provide something for everyone.

Dean Owens @ The Greys, Monday 17th June

As the winner of AmericanaFest’s UK song of the year, Dean Owens will undoubtedly be a delight to see live at this cosy pub. Owens has been described as “Scotland’s most engaging and haunting singer-songwriter” by Irvine Welsh, following his latest hit single Southern Wind. Grab your tickets fast to avoid disappointment: £12 advance online or over the counter at The Greys, Resident Brighton, Union Music Store Lewes or £14 on the door.

Megan Lara Mae, Steven Bamidele and Will Mavin @ The White Rabbit, Tuesday 18th June

The White Rabbit will showcase three acts for a free entry show at 8PM on Tuesday evening. Electro-pop artist Megan Lara Mae will lead the way with her band, supported by Steven Bamidele and Will Mavin. Mae is expected to treat us all to live renditions of her single ‘Caribou’ amongst others. This is a truly exciting prospect considering her recent glowing reviews from BBC Introducing which describes her as: “The 2018 Kate Bush, lamenting sound, beautiful voice”. Catch her at this small venue before her set at Glastonbury this summer for an intimate and sensual experience.

Datkid @ Green Door Store, Wednesday 19th June

Bristol based Hip Hop artist DatKid, made a huge impact on the music scene in 2013 with his first single ‘Home By 8’. He has been churning out high quality music ever since and is now set to kick-start his UK Tour ‘Confessions of a crud lord’. To celebrate the release of his High Focus records debut album, Datkid will perform live at Green Door Store promising an epic performance. With support from Verbz and Mr Slipz, this is not a show you’ll want to miss.

Judy Larose @ The Daddy Longlegs, Thursday 20th June

Judy Larose is a local Brightonian and a phenomenal singer. Judy and her band have been working hard to produce a whole new repertoire of catchy songs, designed to get your feet moving. You can expect covers of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Rita Ora, Bruno Mars, and many more.

Joan as Police Woman @ St George’s Church, Friday 21st June

Joan Wasser, known for her thrilling live performances and starkly honest lyrics, is set to tour the UK for her Joanthology tour. The multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter will be performing accompanied by piano and guitar to celebrate the release of her first career retrospective. This show will see Joan re-imagine many of her hit singles and play material from her upcoming second album of covers. To avoid disappointment, book tickets in advance using the link below.

O’Flynn @ Patterns, Saturday 22nd June

Named by boiler room as “one of dance music’s most prosperous newcomers”, O’Flynn is set to make waves in the music industry in 2019. Following the release of ‘Tyrion’, the young artist has already been championed by the likes of Four Tet, Bonobo and Giles Peterson. Joined by residents Parry & Ovre, O’Flynn will undoubtedly deliver a spectacular performance in one of Brighton’s trendiest venues.

D Double E @ Concorde 2, Sunday 23rd June

Named by Skepta as “the greatest of all time” and Dizzee’s inspiration to start rapping, D Double E helped pioneer an entire culture. The grime artist from East London will be making a long over-due trip to Brighton as part of a SS19 Tour and you won’t want to miss it. Expect to hear tracks from his debut album ‘Jackuum’ and authentic singles dating back to when the scene still didn’t have a name. Supporting the artist will be I-SHA (Shook) and Yaw (3’HI), bringing legendary energy to the stage and ultimate bangers.
