Gigs of the week: 18-25th March
As always, we have handpicked a selection of the best gigs in Brighton and Hove. This week, there are some big names gracing Brighton with their UK tours, KT Tunstall, Sarah Darling and Alborosie to name a few.
KT Tunstall @ Brighton Dome, Monday 18th March
The legendary KT Tunstall is performing live in Brighton this Monday. She is about to release her sixth studio album, WAX and is touring with an all-female band. She entered the scene in 2004 with ‘Eye To The Telescope’ and then went on to release four critically acclaimed albums. Her songs have been used everywhere and she recently received the Inspirational Artist Award at the Women in Music Awards.

Kat Penkin @ The Gladstone Tuesday 19th March
Australian singer/songwriter Kat Penkin, is living in Brighton and is headlining the Gladstone’s open mic night. Her sound is mixture of folk and pop acoustic covers and originals using loop pedals.

Sarah Darling @ Komedia, Wednesday 20th March
Sarah Darling calls her sound ‘Dream Country’. She has released several albums, has had half a million downloads and two number one videos on CMY and GAC. She promises to take the audience on a whimsical journey, ‘through songs about stars, and when cowboy’s used to ride in the West‘.

Alborosie @ Concorde, Thursday 21st March
The‘Italian Reggea Amassador‘ Alborosie is performing at Concorde to celebrate his 25th Anniversary. His hits “Rastafari Anthem”, “Kingston Town”, and “Call Up Jah” have been extremely popular and he has given concerts all around the world, including most of Europe and Jamaica. In 2011, he became the first white artist to win the M.O.B.O. (Music of Black Origin) Awards in the Best Reggae Act category. His new studio album Unbreakable, was played entirely by the Wailers and he has been titled ‘The Lion of International Reggae’. This will be “an opportunity to live again the greatest hits and the new songs, seasoned with a new set design on the stage and very emotional moments”. It is not to be missed.

The Kemptown Carnival @ Concorde, Friday 22nd March
Head down to Concorde for the Kemptown Carnival Botanical Ball – featuring the Resonators, Pollito Boogalloo, Roots Garden and many more. This event is a fundraiser for The 2019 Kemptdown Carnival
