Meet Giovanni and his passion for photography – Humans of Brighton
This week Brighton Journal met Giovanni La Rosa, an aspiring photographer from Italy who has been calling Brighton his home for over a year. We talked about photography, his future and his love for the city.
First things first, an introduction! Who are you and where do you come from?
Hi! My name is Giovanni, I am 22 years old and I come from a small village near Rome.
When and why did you move to Brighton?
I moved to Brighton about a year and a half ago, I wanted change in my life and do something different than what people from my hometown did. I figured Brighton would be the best place to try something new!
I am an aspiring photographer, and as this city has always something going on, I believe I ended up in the right place.
Which lesser-known area of Brighton would you recommend someone who wants to explore the city a bit further?
To be honest I do not have a favourite spot in Brighton. I like to wander around and discover new places by accident. So rather than recommending a specific place, I’d tell them to have a wander and see where it takes them!
Do you see yourself in Brighton in the future?
When I first moved here I didn’t like it, it felt too big of a city for me. However, once I got to know the locals I ended up falling in love with it.
I am not sure where I will be in the future, however I am in the process of applying to university here in Brighton so I will not be leaving any time soon.
