How long have you been playing the banjo?
‘I’ve been playing the banjo about three and a half years now. I was playing music before, but this is the (instrument) that I’ve been with for a few years now. I travel all the time with the banjo but, as you can see (gesturing to a pile of music equipment) I have all sorts of other things with me.’
When did you begin busking?
‘I’ve been playing in the street since I was about sixteen, so that’s eight or nine years now.’ ‘Usually I play in a band, but we’re a bit dispersed across Europe right now.’ ‘It’s kind of like folk, punk, mash it together, fast, banjo’ ‘We write all our own stuff.’
How long have you lived in Brighton?
‘I’m from near Brighton, but I’m just visiting my family and then I’m going on my way to move to Ireland right now … to live there!’
How long have you been a musician?
‘Since I was in the womb. My mum was always musical, she was in a band when she was younger, so me and my brother kind of grew up surrounded by music so we wanted to be part of that, we were also encouraged to be part of that.’
