Humans Of Brighton: Meet Freya

Humans Of Brighton: Meet Freya
Anthony Cheng

This week, we met up with Freya to ask the question:

"What makes you happy?"

Version 2

“For me, it splits into two halves: the first half will be the small things that make me happy on a day-to-day level. The sun- it always makes me immensely happy when it is sunny; in the summer when all the trees are green and the flowers are beautifully blossoming everywhere; being on the beach and the people I am around all the time, too, makes me happy.

“The second half- which sits on a deeper level- will be having options in your life! Knowing that I have options makes me really happy. It is something that is super important to be grateful for because there are a lot of people out there who do not have the luxury of options, through no fault of their own. But, knowing I am in a town where if I wanted to change my job I could do that! If I want to study I can do that! If I want to be in four bands- all of them showcasing completely different genres- I can do that! Being aware of this on a day-to-day basis makes me really happy.

“I definitely had moments in my life where I felt stuck, but never to the point of paralysis. In retrospect, I think it was my conscience creating the illusion of being stuck, rather than actually there being no options for me. When I broke through that mentally of feeling ‘option-less’ and stopped being a funk, I was not stuck anymore. I just put myself, subconsciously, in-between a rock and a hard place, took a step back to assess the situation and became aware of the things I can do to move forward!”
