A man was arrested after the police observed him acting suspiciously in London Road, Hastings, and then quickly making off from the area. More than £5,000 worth of drugs and £5,778 cash were seized on his arrest.Officers reacted quickly and detained the man on Wednesday 7th February at around 1.45pm.Eboko Maysia, 26 years old, has been charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine as well as possession of criminal property (money laundering). The man has no fixed address. Maysia was due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 8th February.

In May 2013, 21 drug related crimes were recorded in Brighton. This is compared to 40 in November 2017. This does not demonstrate a steady increase however, as drug related crime levels have remained relatively consistent over the past 5 years, barring a spike in August 2015, which saw 132 drug crimes recorded.
