Sussex police have appealed for witnesses after a violent incident outside the Mash Tun pub left two young men requiring hospital treatment.

Police officers were called to what has been described as a ‘disturbance’ at Mash Tun pub, on Church Street in Brighton city centre, on Thursday 13th September.

The incident, which occurred at half midnight, left one 19 year old man with a broken wrist and dislocated elbow and his companion, a 23 year old man, with bruising. Both were taken to Sussex County Hospital, where the youngest still remains for treatment. Neither of the injured have been named, but police have said that they are both Brighton residents.

The police have not yet revealed what provoked the incident, nor the full details, but have made it clear that no arrests have yet been made. They are appealing for witnesses in order to more clearly establish what occurred.

Detective Constable Simon Rideout, of Sussex Police has commented on the current enquiry: “Our enquiries are continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact us.”

If you witnessed to incident, or have any further information that you believe may assist the investigation, please contact the police online or by calling 101, quoting serial 30 of 13/09.
