What’s on this weekend: 1st-3rd November
HAPPY HALLOWEEN BRIGHTON
It’s that time of year again! Spooky season is well and truly upon us and it seems the whole of Brighton is gearing up for a weekend filled with Halloween-y celebrations.
Don’t worry, if you’re not on board with the Halloween hype this year, we’ve got plenty of alternative events for you to get your teeth into (pun intended).
Friday 1st November
Jack the Ripper Walk of Terror @ Phileas Fogg’s World of Adventures
This immersive event incorporates history as well as terror. These true stories from the infamous Victorian killer, “Jack the ripper”, will send chills to your core. Every detail is thought of in order for you to feel as though you have travelled back in time to the dingy streets of London, where it all took place. The horrifying history is brought back to a reality, where you can come to terms with the fear of the victims and the people living in the area. If you feel like you can handle the gruesome past where this serial killer roamed the streets, then make sure you get tickets to this event.
THE MAYDAYS: CONFESSIONS! & GUEST IMPROV SUPERSTARS @ Komedia
It’s time to confess our deepest, darkest secrets at Komedia this Friday. This is a hilarious night of improvisational comedy, where ‘The Maydays’ will be turning the audience’s confessions into performances. All you need to do is write down your confession, then sit back for a night of laughter. We all have stories we don’t feel particularly good about, so why not make ourselves feel better and get them off our chest? We can either choose to laugh or cry about something, so isn’t it so much better to choose laughter?
The Haunted Ballroom @ The Old Market
The Haunted Ballroom is a night full of cabaret, live music and circus performances. You can boogie on down to ‘Tankus the Henge’ or watch mesmerizing contortionists and dancers. There will be a huge variety of acts, including fire breathing and an operatic doll. Wander through the different rooms and prepare to be dazzled by everything around you. There will be prizes for the best costume so make sure to dress in your most glamorous, Gothic attire. This will be the most surreal Halloween ball there ever was – so don’t miss it!
Saturday 2nd November
WAH X Fiesta Bombarda – Mungos Hi Fi Halloween
If you’re looking for a proper night out, then look no further. Concorde 2 will be hosting a night of dub, reggae and jungle music, which will be going on until the early hours of the morning. This will definitely have you up and dancing – Mungo’s Hi Fi, Charlie P, Worried About Henry, Fiesta Bombarda and even more acts will all be performing for you creatures of the night. It’s definitely the big Halloween event all you party animals have been after.
Dia de los Muertos @ The Mesmerist x Cazcabel Tequila
As it will be Day of the Dead this Saturday, The Mesmerist is teaming up with Cazcabel to put on a fabulous celebration for you all. Expect tequila and more tequila. There will be Mexican bingo (La Loteria), candy skull face painting from the DMFA makeup academy, midnight shows, music and more. The music will include ‘The Black Kat Boppers’ as well as a ‘Soul Casserole’ DJ set to get you all grooving. Make sure you come in costume as best dressed wins a bottle of tequila, so don’t go half-hearted.
Royal Pavillion Ice Rink
On Saturday, The Royal Pavilion ice rink will be back again! The rink is just outside the beautiful Royal Pavilion building and it will be powered by wind and solar energy. Whether you’re a graceful figure skater, or a bit of a stumble-and-fall kind of skater, it is always good fun. It will certainly get you in a bit more of a winter spirit as you glide around the sparkling ice. It is a great activity for a romantic date, or for the whole family – it’s always a winner.
Sunday 3rd November
The Mauskovic Dance Band + Los Bitchos @ Patterns
Some of us spend our Sundays wrapped in our duvets, but this is worth getting out of bed for. These bands are so full of fun energy, they’re bound to get you up and dancing. Be prepared for some out-of-this-world funky tunes, so get yourselves down to Patterns to spice up your Sunday night!
Streets café Christmas shopping market @ Brighton Open Market
Maybe you’d like to get your Christmas shopping done early this year? If so, there is so much to choose from at Streets café Christmas shopping market. There are over 40 stalls with a range of goodies and potential stocking fillers. There’s plenty of stuff to eat, while filling your bags with handmade gifts galore. You will definitely find some unique gifts here, even if you’re not ready to start Christmas shopping, there’s nothing wrong with treating yourself!
Nick Helm: Pheonix from the Ashes @ The Old Market
Two time Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee, Nick Helm, is coming to town to have us all in stitches. So, if you fancy a Sunday full of laughter, grab your tickets now! If you are not already an established Nick Helm fan, then you definitely will be after seeing him live at The Old Market.
