If you’re short of things to do this weekend, there are loads of events going on in Brighton to keep you entertained. No matter what you’re into, there are plenty of fun ways to spend your time throughout the city!

Friday 22nd November

Reclaim The Night

If you feel passionately about fighting rape culture and harassment on the streets of Brighton, then this march may be a great way for you to spend your Friday night. The Survivors Movement and Survivors Network are hosting this event which begins at Brighton Station, and after a rally at Old Steine, will continue on to Patterns where the after-party will be held. All genders are more than welcome to attend. The groups also fight for sex work to be decriminalised, so if this is an issue you would like to get behind then get involved and join the movement!

March: 18:00-23:00 starting @ Brighton Station. After-party: Patterns, 10 Marine Parade, Brighton BN2 1TL (free entry from 9pm-11pm, under 18’s are allowed until 10pm). Click here for more details.

Shake A Leg 002

The weekend is a time for letting loose and dancing like nobody’s watching. Shake A Leg 002, a free dance party held at The Tempest Inn, is perfect for doing just that. This night is all about having fun with your friends and dancing along to some feel-good tunes. Bright and bold outfits are encouraged as well as out of the box dance moves. The bottom line is, if you’d like to let your hair down and not take yourself too seriously, this event is where you need to be. Wrangle up a few friends and join the party!

Christmas Artisan Makers & Food Market

There’s something for everyone at this year’s first Christmas Makers Market, with over 45 local designers offering up their best hand crafted products. It’s a great place to be if you’re stuck for a gift idea for that hard-to-buy-for person in your life. If you’re not quite in the Christmas spirit yet, surrounding yourself with the local festivities that the market has to offer is sure to kick-start it. There will be plenty of food to choose from, including a pop up artisan cafe, as well as various types of confectionary and other great munchies from numerous local traders.

Brighton Bohemians Meditation and Kirtan

We all let the work week stress us out a little more than we should. If you need to decompress and let go for a couple of hours this weekend, then the monthly Brighton Bohemians meditation session -complete with a candlelit atmosphere – could be the event to help you with that. Resetting and refreshing are things we all need to do and often forget as we get wrapped up in the rat race. Why not allow yourself to get centred to the tune of kirtan classics, folk chants, and some rainbow songs? There is also the option to join the group as they explore the local nightlife after the session, so if you would like to join in on that then make sure you bring your ID!

Vintage clothing is very much in style but can sometimes break the bank. At this event you can grab a whole kilo worth of vintage items for only £15! With 6 tonnes of clothes to chose from, you’re sure to find something that’ll fit your style and make you feel fashionable. The wholesale is offering a variety of Grade A quality, globally sourced items from hats and boots to sportswear and flannels, and anything in-between. For those on a tight budget, or looking for a unique gift for the upcoming holiday season, this is event gives you incredibly good value for money and could help save your purse strings.

Fair Play Illustration Fair

Independent and up-and-coming artists are being recognised in this art fair as their work is put up for display and sale. There are numerous Brighton-based illustrators as well as some from slightly further afield. A unique illustration is another great Christmas gift idea, as well as a way to support smaller artists and the community as a whole. The event is child and dog friendly and is completely free of charge, so why not see what it’s all about for yourself?
