The first weekend of August, Pride weekend, one of the biggest in the Brighton calendar. This weekend we can expect to see the city truly come into it’s own fizzing with an unparalleled atmosphere. There is a plethora of things to do across the city this weekend, and at Brighton Journal we have collated this list of entertainment, there really is something for everybody.

Kids Pride Silent Disco – Friday 2nd August

Celebrate Pride as a family and head to the Kids Pride Silent Disco at the British Airways i360 boarding deck! Grown-ups are invited to enjoy a relaxing drink overlooking the West Pier as the kids dance the evening away!

5pm-7pm, Tickets: Child (4-15 with free accompanying adult) – £7.50, under 3’s go free., British Airways i360 Lower Kings Road, Brighton

New Love at Presuming Ed’s Coffee House – Friday 2nd August

Perhaps starting the weekend with a bit of flirty fun at this unique dating night might float your boat? This event is designed to allow the exploration of alternative ideas around love and relationships. Individuals can meet one another in the absence of awkward ice breakers or tacky speed dating. The theme is indoor beach party, ‘bikinis optional’ apparently! All genders and sexualities welcome. Super Socials with My Escape – Saturday 3rd of August

Escape the chaos and treat your self to a morning of invigorating wellness on Brighton beach. Holly and Ellie, the founders of My Escape, are hosting a full morning of movement and socialising in collaboration with Studio iO. The morning will consist of a yoga and pilates infusion style class, healthy brunch provided by The Kleen Kitchen, a dip in the ocean (optional) followed by a warming session in a woodfired sauna. Everything you need to wake-up, reconnect with your body and mind, and prepare you for the festivities to follow.

Brighton Street Art Tour – Saturday 3rd August

Get a healthy dose of culture with this walking tour of Brighton’s street art scene hosted by artrepublic in collaboration with local graffiti pioneer REQ. This event usually takes place on most Saturdays, however, this isn’t just any Saturday. Wander through Brighton’s famous Lanes and discover hidden graffiti gems with the whirlwind of Pride all around you. Booking includes refreshments.

Line Dancing at Pride Pleasure Gardens – Saturday 3rd August

The Cactus Club have been teaching LGBTQ+ dancing since 1993, and they are taking over Pride Pleasure Gardens this Saturday afternoon to teach an afternoon of line dancing! Grab your partner by the hand, don your dancing shoes, and head to the Pleasure Gardens!

The Big Pride Beach Clean Silent Disco- Sunday 4th August

It is the unfortunate truth that the much loved swarms of enthusiastic LGBTQ+ supporters who will be coming from across the UK to promote equality and diversity will undoubtedly leave a trace of litter in their wake. Sign up and volunteer with Oceans 8 Brighton to take part in this community spirited effort to clean up the beach whilst grooving away to tunes on wireless headphones. Volunteers who complete a full session can get a free ticket to Love BN1Fest as a huge thank you!

LoveBN1Fest – Sunday 4th August

Spend the day frolicking in the sun with friends and family at this laid back festival! As well as the headlining acts Jessie J and Grace Jones (oh my god!) there will also be circus skills, performance artists, dance tents, accessibly tent, food stalls and WellBeing area. A Sunday trip to the park unlike any other!

Sunday Sundae at Patterns – Sunday 4th August

Squeeze every last drop out of this Pride weekend with this official supporting event, Sunday Sundae at Patterns. Promising to be the sexiest Sunday party in town, this infamous terrace party delivers 12 hours of non-stop Miami style beach party vibes. Each ticket sold raises £1 towards Pride’s community fundraising.
