Here is your Brighton Gig Guide, from the 23rd – 29th September. I’ve pooled in some of the best events and most interesting gigs for you to explore this week. Whether you’re looking for an intimate acoustic evening or a loud and exciting gig to go to, this week has it all.

23rd September, Monday

Love Thy Neighbour Presents: Say Sue Me

The Prince Albert hosts “Say Sue Me”, a Surf Rock inspired indie band all the way from South Korea. Cited as one of 2018’s ‘break-out bands’, head down to the Prince Albert for jangle pop hooks, stunning vocal melodies and intricate guitar work.

Support of the evening comes from Sisyphes, who’s music “reflects on a sea of wavy guitars and synths inherited from the northern shoegaze scene….” This night is bound to be one to remember.

Africa House presents: The Seigfried Collective.

Africa House hosts an intimate, stripped back live music experience, ‘Seigfried & Chill’.

The Seigfried Collective Advocates for supporting emerging talent worldwide and maximising the live music experience for music lovers everywhere.

This brand new live music event brings to you Kymara, with Mia Blankson & Jelee as support.

25th September, Wednesday

Small Pond and Folklore Sessions presents: Natalie Evans

Hosted in the charming restaurant on Upper North Streets ‘Nowhere Man’, Folklore Sessions team up with Small Pond to give you Natalie Evans. If you want a spellbinding performer and stunning vocalist, then this is the gig for you.

This event holds support from BonnieSongs, whose “lifting vocals float over gentle peaks of acoustic and electronic instruments”. Also on support, Jacko Hooper, who combines delicate acoustic noodlings with a soulful, emotive voice.

Pool Valley Recordings Presents: Habitats

If you are looking for a free music event and a great night out, this one is for you. Held at The Richmond, Pool Valley Recordings bring you Stranger Girl with support from Peace In Protest.

Stranger Girl takes influence from Blondie and the Smiths, who combine indie rock roots with a 21st century twist of polished soundscapes and explosive pop melodies.

Peace In Protest are on the bill to support Stranger Girl. Their sound is a combination of riffs, grooves, energy of Rock music and attention to detail from their love of Pop music.

The evening ends with one of Pool Valley Recordings Residents DJ; who mix of all things house, techno, disco, and minimal.

Ban the Disco Present: Swoon

Ban the Disco brings you a new free late night gig this Friday, hosted at The Richmond.

The headline act for the evening is Swoon, “Socio-political electro-punk from the seaside.”

The support artists for the night are “THUMPER”, a noise-pop quartet from Dublin, delivering bubblegum pop through a wall of sonic death. Alongside them, “World News”, three piece band from Brighton, who combine heavy and jangly sounds will play also.

28th September, Saturday

Late Night Stragglers Records Birthday Sessions

 

Celebrating 2 years of Late Night Stragglers Records, this Saturday at The Latest Music Bar is one of three Birthday Celebrations taking place in Brighton!

I spoke to Jack Evans, the promoter of this event, who says “Late Night Straggler Records started up 2 years ago and went full time last September. We have put together three nights of music to celebrate! We have been dedicated to promoting up and coming artists, and have used our Birthday to keep that going!

There are variety of different bands playing, including James Brett, Meg Lawrenson Band, The Buzzards and headliners, Building Operatora.

If you are not around on Saturday but would love to head down to another session, Evans adds:

“We start on Thursday the 26th at The Brunswick, before our two nights at The Latest on the 27th and 28th!”

29th September Sunday

Hobgoblin Music presents Finally Burch.

Hobgoblin Music is back with their Live Music Sundays, this time with folk singer-songwriter Finlay Birch. Birch combines a fusion of different sounds influenced by his Scottish roots. These include elements of contemporary pop, folk and indie music.

Looking for a relaxed, acoustic and FREE night in the centre of town? This is the one for you!
