Modernization: The mystery surrounding the secret Nier Automata Church is deepening, as the player who discovered it has provided more screenshots, viewers have begun to dig deeper, and the developers of the game have given some ambiguous comments.
New shots made by sadfutago on reddit (Opens in a new tab) It’s about four minutes long, and shows A2 continuing through the winding portico to the nave. A short scene is shown highlighting a mannequin at an altar with a lunar teardrop flower growing from his chest and a no-kill figure shrouded in black voxel.
Right after the scene, A2 and her pouch make a brief exchange. A2 says “Stop. What is this?” The capsule’s response is “unknown”. Then A2 says “You are useless”. (This conversation is a very good metaphor for where the community is at right now.) sadfutago ملاحظات notes (Opens in a new tab) That they had to “delete Terraria and Far Cry 4” in order to record the video.
Members of the mod community have contacted sadfutago for more details. Apparently, this footage was taken on a French-Canadian PS4 version of the game that has never been updated. Players are now scrambling to test different versions of the game to follow the sadfutago’s steps and see if they can open this secret door.
“We haven’t yet found any evidence in the origins of this, other than the tower itself from the late game,” modder xxk_ notes at last reddit (Opens in a new tab). xxk_ adds that “If this was a mod, it would be the first time anyone had done something like this, and no one else knows how to create custom doors as seen in the video – it would be a relatively immediate undertaking for one individual to get it done with mod hacks.” different.”
Meanwhile, Nier Automata producer Yusuke Saito was tweeting. first send a tweet (Opens in a new tab) In English it says “eternal mystery”. Then one in Japanese, translated by aitaikimochi (Opens in a new tab), to say, “That sounds like something Yoko Taro would do. Lol.” Then came a self translation tweet (Opens in a new tab) Saying “First of all, please calm down and make your reservation here,” pointing to the pre-orders link for The upcoming Switch port of Nier Automata.
On this last point, some fans growing conviction (Opens in a new tab) That this is some sort of viral marketing ploy for the Switch, speculating that the church may actually be a Switch exclusive territory and that all this ambiguity is just a way to grab public attention.
Each new possibility looks just as weird as the last, however, whatever the truth, it’s still great to watch the story unfold.
Original story: A player from Nier Automata has stumbled upon what appears to be a never-before-seen secret door, and the sudden revelation of the community is “a mess”.
A month ago, a Reddit user called sadfutago made a post (Opens in a new tab) He asks “How to get to the church?” Apparently, this player opened a door in the copied city that leads to the interior of a church-style building, and was trying to figure out how to get back inside. The issue was, for the rest of society, there is no such door.
Shortly thereafter, sadfutago submitted a file A bunch of screenshots (Opens in a new tab) and Brief video (Opens in a new tab) Show the way to the mysterious door. Some members of the community questioned the existence of a fake, citing the fact that the clip ended right after the door was opened. To this point, Sadfutago replied “I didn’t want to score too much because my mom said not to take up space.”
Nothing happened more than that for a month, until today, when sadfutago posted a longer clip (Opens in a new tab) View what lies behind the door, including custom assets and animations that don’t seem to be precedent anywhere else in the game.
Someone posted a random video on the Nier Automata subreddit showing that they’ve found a secret room in the copied city. Until now, no one else had figured out how they were able to reveal this secret door. Literally one person on the floor walked into this room and we just screwed up pic.twitter.com/g7W4JxiNDg25 July 2022
As modder and dataminer Posted by Lance MacDonald (Opens in a new tab)“Society is in disarray because of this discovery.”
Members of the Nier Automata mods community say it’s unlikely this area was built by mods, as the whole new maps with unique animations are far beyond what mods can now build.
This leaves us with three possibilities. Someone is either pulling an elaborate joke by creating a Nier Automata mod that goes well beyond what other designers have made possible, or pulling a more elaborate joke by animating a perfectly fake video of the game, or that door is really a new discovery that somehow went unnoticed. Five years have passed since the game was launched. Regardless of the truth, it’s a fascinating mystery.
Nier Automata is on its way to the switch In October, if you’re looking for a way to clear undiscovered puzzles on the go.
