Aaron Rodgers vows to ‘get back up’ after season-ending rupture of Achilles tendon

New York Jets star Aaron Rodgers on Wednesday vowed to “get back up” after rupturing his Achilles tendon on Monday, which will sideline him for the entire season.

Rogers, 39, is a future Hall of Famer and won Four NFL MVP Awards, came down minutes after making his Jets debut. With him on the team — one of the most anticipated offseason moves in the league — some pundits were expecting the Jets to make a deep playoff run.

But now, instead of taking pictures on the field, he will work on getting healthy.

“I am absolutely heartbroken and moving through all the emotions, but I am deeply touched and humbled by the support and love,” he wrote on social media on Wednesday. “Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin the healing process today.”

His coach said this week that his injury would require surgery. The Achilles tendon connects the calf muscles to the heel, and orthopedists say a tear is one of the most difficult injuries athletes can face.

An injury can affect the ability to walk, not to mention run, jump, stop and start quickly, which are the physical attributes needed to play in the NFL.

Comprehensive physical therapy and rehabilitation are needed to achieve full recovery.

Rodgers was hurt after taking just four snaps. The Jets went on to beat the Buffalo Bills in overtime by a score of 22-16.

He said in his social media post that he appreciates everyone who has reached out to him and is already looking forward.

“Thank you to everyone who reached out, called, texted, DMed, called through a friend, etc. It meant a lot to me, and I will try to get back to you all soon.” books.

Rodgers added that better days lie ahead.

“The night is darkest before the dawn. And I will rise again.”

Before this season, Rodgers spent his entire professional career with the Green Bay Packers, whom he led to the Super Bowl in 2011.
