Andy Cohen reveals he was scammed out of a huge sum of money and is now 'trying to get my money back'

Andy Cohen has revealed he lost a lot of money to a scam, and hopes others can use his experience to protect themselves.

The media star, 55, who says he bought one of the wigs Kim Zolciak was selling, spoke about how thieves pulled wool over his eyes on the December 22 episode of his show. Dad's Diaries Podcast.

The Bravolebrity explained that he didn't want to delve into what happened, but he told co-host Jon Hill that he was scammed by someone claiming to be from the fraud alert department of his bank.

“I lost the card, and I paid it [a replacement for] I got an email saying, “There might be fraud on your account,” and I said, “Oh, this is attached to the card you lost.”

According to the What's Happening Live host, he logged into the site linked in the email, but alarm bells started ringing when the person he was speaking to asked for his Apple ID and password.

“I'm already logged into my bank app,” he said. “I think somehow logging into that site gave them access to my bank app.”

The CNN New Year's Eve host explained that he was willing to discuss his financial information because the scammers were able to list recent purchases he had made.

“They were mentioning the credits I had submitted, the fees, because obviously they had access to my account.”

He said that during his phone call, which lasted for an hour and 10 minutes, he was tricked into setting up a call forwarding application on his phone.

“She said, 'I want you to put these numbers into your phone,'” he explained. I went to the keyboard and entered a set of numbers that she asked me to enter.”

“And what came up on my screen was this screen that basically said…I've set up call forwarding and message forwarding on my phone.”

Andy revealed that when he went to the bank the next day, large sums of money had been transferred from his accounts and he was unaware of this due to the call forwarding he had been persuaded to put on his phone.

“Since I set up call forwarding, the calls have gone to scammers, and they've confirmed the wires.”

The executive producer of the Real Housewives franchise advised others who might be contacted by scammers to take the time to make sure everything is okay.

“Part of my advice to people is if something happens, just go to your bank branch.”

He added: 'And when you receive emails, look closely at the email address. The name of your bank may appear, but click on the name, and then the email address will appear, and you will see that it is another random address.'

Andy said he was “trying to get my money back.”
