PGA Championship 4th round live: Who will come out of the woods at the top of the leaderboard?

It has been a long time since a major tournament had a truly dramatic end. It will take something special for anyone to run away with the 2024 PGA Championship.

As of Sunday, 15 players will be within five shots of the lead. Collin Morikawa and Xander Scheufele, at -15, edge out Sahith Thegalla, who held on Saturday despite a tough start. Behind them there is a traffic jam.

It’s shaping up to be a wild final round.

He lives9 updates

  • Logjam jams

With some of those now at the top of the leaderboard in the field, 17 players are now within five shots of the lead. Among them is Justin Thomas (-11), who exits the greenside bunker at No. 1.

  • Valhalla has snakes

No need for a ground crew when you get this guy…

  • As chasers Xander Scheufele and Collin Morikawa begin their rounds, Lee Hodges makes an early move. He is now at -11 and four shots behind the lead after a shot at first.

Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler is still hitting like that even though he is out of contention for the win after his poor outing on Saturday.

  • What score will it take to win?

With Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa 15 short of starting, what score would it take to win today? People under 19 are winning it,” David Duvall said on the CBS broadcast. With all the red numbers on the board so far today, the guess here is even lower – less than 20.

That would be 66 leaders, and with 63 there, that brings everyone under 12 or better into the mix:

    Chauvel (-15)
    Morikawa (-15)
    Thigala (-14)
    Lowry (-13)
    DeChambeau (-13)
    Hovland (-13)
    Rose (-12)
    McIntyre (-12)

  • Turns out Scotty Scheffler is human

A day after his first over-par round since last August, Scottie Scheffler got off to a quiet start to Round 4. Bogey at first, followed by a missed six-foot putt for birdie that put it under 6. Who can blame him for returning to Earth after what happened on Friday, right?

  • We’ve already got 64

Englishman Jordan Smith came out early and showed that there is still a lot of results to be achieved in Valhalla. Behind six birdies, an eagle and even a bogey, Smith carded 7-under 6

  • Golf can be tough

Brooks Koepka threw a pitch in the seventh…and this is what happened:

The bird’s potential click turned into par. Koepka is 3 under on tour, but at 7 under in the tournament, a repeat won’t happen.

  • The thirteenth is drivable

Here’s something to keep an eye on later in the day: The 349-yard par-4 13th looks to be driveable:

He would end up hitting that short putt for eagle.

This could get interesting later in the day when the leaders head out there with someone who needs to move.

  • The final round is underway

The final round of the 2024 PGA Championship is currently underway, and yes, there are scores to be had today. Red figures dot the leaderboard already early on, including Brooks Koepka, who is second on his tour through just four holes. If this is any indication, it will be a penalty shootout win for whoever tops the leaderboard.
