A few days before his death, Simmons spoke about his life, legacy and relationship with his fans in Interview with people.

“When I decided to retire, it was because my body told me I needed to retire,” Simmons told the newspaper. “I spent time reflecting on my life. All the books I’ve written, the videos. I never said, ‘Look at what I’ve done.’ All I said was, ‘Look at how many people I’ve helped.’”
