The 2024 Paris Olympics are coming to a close – and spectators are now looking ahead to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Californian artists HER, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish and Snoop Dogg performed for the next host city, and actor Tom Cruise performed a stunt at the handover ceremony.

R&B artist HER played the US national anthem as he handed over the host city duties from Paris to Los Angeles.

Mission Impossible actor Tom Cruise was lowered from the top of the Stade de France after the host city was handed over.

The action star took the Olympic flag from Simone Biles and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. He attached the flag to the back of a motorcycle and rode off, beginning the flag’s journey to the United States.

A video was then shown of him riding his motorcycle, crashing into a plane and jumping out of it in Los Angeles, where he had Olympic rings attached to the Hollywood sign. The video was accompanied by music by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The performance then moved to a live broadcast in Los Angeles, where the band played “Can’t Stop” in Venice Beach.

Eilish then performed “Birds of a Feather” with her brother, Finneas, atop a lifeguard tower, further igniting the iconic Los Angeles imagery.

Snoop Dogg then took to the beach to perform “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” He also enlisted Dr. Dre to perform “The Next Episode.”

After the athletes and acrobats, Phoenix kicked off the celebration of French art with a performance of “Lisztomania.” They also performed “If I Ever Feel Better” and “1901.” The band also brought Vampire Weekend bassist Ezra Koenig and Cambodian rapper Van Da on stage.

French electronic artist Kavinsky also took the stage to perform “Nightcall” with Angel.

Meanwhile, Air, a band associated with a subgenre of house music known as French touch, played “Playground Love” during the concert.
