Amazon Prime Video adds the Apple TV+ channel within the app

Amazon will launch Apple TV+ as a premium add-on within the Prime Video app later this month.

Apple TV+ content will soon be available on Prime Video in the US via a $9.99 per month add-on, Mike Hopkins, president of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, announced during a Bloomberg Screentime event held Wednesday night in Los Angeles. A specific launch date has not been revealed yet.

With a subscription, Amazon customers will have access to all Apple scripted content, as well as Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball sporting events.

“We’ve had a good partnership with Apple on a number of fronts…our companies do a lot of work together,” Hopkins said during the event. “I think what we offer channel partners is hundreds of millions of subscribers around the world who can access their channels.”

Apple is one of more than 100 additional options Prime Video offers to subscribers in the US, which gives viewers access to more content without the need for multiple subscriptions.

According to Amazon, Prime members will be able to subscribe to Apple TV+ directly through the Prime Video app, without the need for other apps — or cable. Subscription can be canceled at any time.

“We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library of series and films from the world’s greatest storytellers available to as many viewers as possible,” Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services, said in a statement. “We are thrilled that Prime Video will now offer Apple TV+, giving viewers an incredible range of viewing options.”
