The plane veered off the runway at Allegheny County Airport
Kelly. Well, Andrew, we just learned from the airport spokesperson that this pilot is a woman. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. As I said, after her plane had passed over the hills, off course. And if you take a look at SKY 4 with the ACTION CAM, our view from above, you can see there’s some damage to what appears to be the aircraft’s front there. But it is not clear how this damage occurred and why her plane ran off course. We know this is the PIPER CHEROKEE. And this happened before the 330. So, for an hour and a half now, they’ve had first responders on the highway, off the runway, dealing with this derailed plane. Again, non life threatening injuries for this pilot. We also know that the airport here, the county airport, is now operating at limited, limited capacity. So they say if you’re doing business here, you have a flight from here, you better check it, check the airport, make sure it’s still on schedule and that your flight will continue to operate when it should. But again, there are no non-life-threatening injuries. This is the good news. It’s a female pilot and we’re working on learning exactly what happened here and how this plane made it off course. We’ll let you know when we get more new details.
The plane veered off the runway at Allegheny County Airport
A plane skidded off the runway at the Allegheny County Airport Monday afternoon, and a local mission confirmed that first responders have been dispatched to the airport. Sky 4 with Action Cam saw that the small plane had passed over a hill. A statement from the airport’s director of public affairs, Matt Nestin, said the plane veered off the main runway around 3:25 p.m., and the pilot was taken to a local hospital for non-critical injuries. Nestin said the airport is open for limited aircraft operations at this time. Customers should check with the companies at the airports for their operational status. The plane is part of the airport’s flight school. A search of the FAA’s aircraft registry said the plane was owned by ATP TAA LLC of Wilmington, Delaware. This is a developing story.
