Officials said Wednesday that actor Julian Sands has been missing for five days since he went hiking in Southern California’s Mount Baldy.
Sands, 65, was reported missing in the Baldi Pool area around 7:30 p.m. Friday, Mara Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, reported.
The crew began searching for Sand, known for his role in the movie “A Room with a View”, But Rodriguez said the effort was halted on Saturday night due to road conditions and an avalanche hazard.
Rodriguez said search and rescue crews will continue to scan the area using helicopters and drones when weather permits and will schedule another ground search when it is safe to do so.
The sheriff’s department recommended people heed warnings and avoid the area, where high winds and sleet created treacherous conditions.
“Recent storms causing snow and ice conditions are not conducive to hikers, even those who feel they have a high level of experience,” the ministry said in a statement. Advisor.
The department said search and rescue crews launched 14 rescue missions for missing, trapped and injured hikers on the mountain and in the surrounding area over the past four weeks, and two hikers died after falling and injuring themselves.
Baldy Mountain is located in the San Gabriel Mountains, northeast of Los Angeles.
Sands, an English-born actor, starred in 1985’s “A Room With a View” and other films, including “Warlock” (1989) and “Arachnophobia” (1990). He has also appeared in many other movies and TV shows over the decades.
