Adidas removes Bella Hadid from campaign after Israeli government criticism

Adidas has pulled images of supermodel Bella Hadid from a big-budget campaign after criticism from Israel.

Watchman The sportswear company said it was “reviewing” its campaign, according to reports. To promote a sneaker that was first launched to coincide with the 1972 Munich Olympics, when 11 members of the Israeli team were taken hostage and then killed by Palestinian terrorists.

Hadid, who has Palestinian roots, was heavily criticized by the Israeli government for chanting the slogan “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” He has been accused of anti-Semitism.

Israel’s official Twitter account said it objected to Hadid as “the face of Israel.” [the Adidas] campaign.”

Adidas said in a statement that the SL72 campaign “unites a wide range of partners.” It added: “We recognize that there are connections between these tragic historical events – although completely unintended – and we apologize for any inconvenience or distress caused.”

“As a result, we are reviewing the remainder of the campaign.”

Hadid has repeatedly expressed her support for the Palestinians in Gaza. Last month, she and her sister Gigi pledged to donate $1 million to humanitarian efforts in the region.
