Brandon Aiyuk explains 49ers comment ‘they don’t want me back’ amid contract talks – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

On June 16, 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk posted a video on TikTok with the caption, “I’m laughing but I’m crying.” [for real]”.

In the video, Aiyuk told his close friend and Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels: “They said they don’t want me back… I swear,” referring to the slow talks regarding the pro’s contract with San Francisco.

Aiyuk surprisingly explained what the 49ers told him before his TikTok post in an appearance on Friday. “The Hub” podcast. With co-hosts Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor.

“They told me they didn’t think we were on the same page and they didn’t think we were going to get to the same goal, and that was it at the time,” Aiyuk said. “But that’s part of the contract negotiations.”

Ayuk’s initial post made the situation appear bleaker than he implied on Friday.

While the two sides appear far from reaching an agreement, San Francisco and its receiving yardage leader remain focused on expanding their dynamic partnership.

The 26-year-old said he and girlfriend Rochelle Seawright document a lot of their summer events, which is why his moment was captured on camera. A big player on the court, Aiyuk tries to be a storyteller.

“We started getting our own footage, recording everything,” Aiyuk said. “I just enjoy the process. I asked my lady to record things, to record everything that happens so I can go back. It’s an exciting time. It’s stressful, but it’s exciting.”

Aiyuk’s NFL future remains unclear, but at least the TikTok drama seems dead. Now, believers will have to wait and see if Aiyuk’s guess about his next team is accurate.
