In the series, Dermot plays the President of the United States, Ritson.
Talk about the show and more with the view hosts, but it’s not their conversation that grabs the headlines. It’s a fact that Dermot walked off the set.
Before Joy Behar went on commercial hiatus, Dermott apologized and went off on his own. Just before that, he explained his reasoning, which was very noble.
“I’m sorry first. I want to do this symbolically in support of writers and in solidarity with them. I’m getting off your show,” he said.
“Thank you. I’ll see you at the picket lines in July,” he continued before exiting the set while the hosts remained seated.
Dermott isn’t the only celebrity in solidarity with the WGA. Drew Barrymore also dropped out of hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards in May for the same reason, while Ariana DeBose Hosted the Tony Awards Earlier this month without a script because it’s usually written by WGA writers.
