Meet the latest Tigers, starting with Round 11:
age: 21.
Vital Signs: 6’7″, 195 lbs.
Bats/Throws: Left left.
It was formulated: Round 11 (No. 326 overall).
Buzz: Ashman, a tall lefty, pitched exclusively as a relief pitcher during his three-year college career at Utah, posting a 3.08 ERA with three saves and 26 strikeouts in 26⅓ innings in 24 games in 2024. He’s an outstanding pitcher, but his pitching mix is essentially one pitch. He throws his 93-mph fastball nearly all the time, though he knows how to throw two other pitches: a hybrid of a curveball and a below-average changeup. He should develop into a two-pitch relief pitcher as a pro. Ashman is sure to throw strikes with his fastball, so if he can develop a curveball and add more velocity to his fastball, he could be a factor in high-impact situations in the major leagues.
Downers Grove North High School (Illinois) Good Warwick
age: 18.
Vital Signs: 6-1, 170.
Bats/Throws: left Right.
It was formulated: Round 12 (No. 356 overall).
Buzz: Warrick, who committed to Michigan State, hit .389 with five home runs, 12 walks and 14 strikeouts over 143 plate appearances in 36 games in his final season at Downers Grove North. He also posted a 1.66 ERA with two walks and 10 strikeouts over 12⅔ innings in seven relief appearances, but his future is as a center fielder. Michigan State recruited him as a center fielder, but the Tigers selected him as a shortstop. Warrick, a left-handed hitter, has been committed to Michigan since October 2022.
age: 19.
Vital Signs: 6-4, 190.
Bats/Throws: right right.
It was formulated: Round 13 (No. 386 overall).
Buzz: Ellisalt, who committed to the University of Southern Mississippi, started 15 games for Chipola College as a sophomore in the NCAA Division I All-Pro. He posted a 4.85 ERA with 26 saves and 78 strikeouts over 65 innings and was named to the Panhandle First Team. Ellisalt has a four-pitch mix: fastball, curveball, changeup and cutter. His fastball velocity is around 90 mph. He knows how to locate his pitches, but he will need to improve his pitches to progress as a pro. He is averaging 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings. Ranked 47th among 321 shooters on the NJCAA leaderboard..
age: 22.
Vital Signs: 5-10, 175.
Bats/Throws: right right.
It was formulated: Round 14 (No. 416 overall).
Buzz: Howie, the actress’ younger brother Brian HoeyHe finished four seasons for St. Mary’s in the West Coast Conference, working in the relief pitching barn for a total of 107 innings throughout his four-year college career. He posted a 4.26 ERA with 15 walks and 51 strikeouts in 38 innings in 22 games in 2024, averaging 12.1 strikeouts per nine innings. Hoy posted a 6.81 ERA in his four seasons as a member of the Gaels.
age: 20.
Vital Signs: 6-1, 195.
Bats/Throws: right right.
It was formulated: Round 15 (No. 446 overall).
Buzz: McDonald attended Portage Central High School, where he set the school’s home run record, in Portage, Michigan, before enjoying a solid three-year career at Miami University in Ohio, where he continued to hit home runs. McDonald hit 10 home runs as a freshman, 13 as a sophomore and 20 as a junior. His 20 home runs as a junior tied for second most in program history for a single season, trailing his 21 home runs by 10. Mike Ferris In 2004, he also finished one stroke shy of tying the program’s career record, set by Michael Carlin With 44 home runs from 2000 to 2003. As a third-year senior, McDonald also hit for a .337 batting average with 36 walks and 53 strikeouts in 54 games, stealing 15 bases in 18 attempts. He also hit four home runs in four games.
Blue Valley Southwest High School (Kansas) RHP Anson Siebert
age: 18.
Vital Signs: 6-8, 235.
Bats/Throws: left Right.
It was formulated: Round 16 (No. 476 overall).
Buzz: Siebert, who committed to the University of Tennessee, is one of the top high school pitchers in the draft class on the upside, but his stock has dropped outside the first round due to control issues. If he signs, it would be a steal of the entire draft. But Siebert has been committed to Tennessee since July 2022 and is expected to spend the next two seasons with the Volunteers. He throws a 93-mph fastball that hits 97 mph, backed by an above-average ride with elite stretch. He also boasts a high-spin slider that should develop into a dominant secondary pitch. His changeup and curveball round out his four-pitch mix, but those offerings are below average. The hard-hitting lefty — who is nearly 19 — is committed to Tennessee and will be eligible to be drafted again as a college sophomore in 2026. By then, he could be a first-round pick with top draft potential. Siebert has tremendous potential, but he has a long way to go in developing himself before he becomes a finished product.
Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy (Puerto Rico) High School C Gabriel Rosado
age: 18.
Vital Signs: 6-1, 180.
Bats/Throws: left Right.
It was formulated: Round 17 (No. 506 overall).
Buzz: Rosado, from Ponce, Puerto Rico, is committed to San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas, in the NJCAA, but could skip the college route by signing with the Tigers. As a player, he is considered above average in throwing accuracy and arm strength. He is ranked the fourth-best high school player from Puerto Rico in his class, according to Perfect Game. He is also ranked 385th in high school overall, as well as the 42nd-best player in his class.
age: 19.
Vital Signs: 6-4, 215.
Bats/Throws: right right.
It was formulated: Round 18 (No. 536 overall).
Buzz: Alwin graduated from East Coweta High School in Georgia and then enrolled at Southern Union State University — an NJCAA program in Alabama — for his senior season in 2024, where he posted a 4.86 ERA with 22 walks and 48 strikeouts in 66⅔ innings in 14 starts. He has a strikeout rate of 6.48 per nine innings. Ranked 270th among 321 pitchers on the NJCAA leaderboard. He was not selected in the 2023 MLB draft.
Lyon High School (Florida) LHP Chase Davis
age: 17.
Vital Signs: 6-2, 210.
Bats/Throws: Left left.
It was formulated: Round 19 (No. 566 overall).
Buzz: Davis, who won’t turn 18 until late August, has been committed to South Alabama since September 2022, meaning the Tigers would need to get him through college to sign him. He has been a two-way player throughout his high school career but is projected to be a pitcher in the future. As a senior, Davis posted a 2.33 ERA with five assists and 25 strikeouts in 18 innings in six games (one start). He also had a 3.77 ERA in 42⅔ innings as a sophomore and a 1.53 ERA in 59⅔ innings as a junior. Offensively, Davis hit .225 with three home runs, 13 runs and 15 strikeouts in 22 games during his final campaign, but the Tigers drafted him as a left-handed pitcher rather than a left-handed hitter.
