“Doctor Who” star Millie Gibson will be replaced after one season. diverse He confirmed it.
“Jurassic World Dominion” actor Varada Sitho will star opposite Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor’s companion in the show’s 15th season.
Gibson, who is best known so far for playing Kelly Neilan in the British TV series Coronation Street, made her first appearance on the long-running sci-fi show in the Christmas special in December. She plays her companion Ruby Sunday alongside Gatwa, who plays the Fifteenth Doctor.
Gibson will return as Ruby in the upcoming 14th season, which is scheduled to premiere in May on BBC in the UK and Disney+ internationally.
But for the 15th season, which is currently being filmed in Wales, a source has confirmed that Sethu will play Gatwa's companion. No other details about her role were revealed. Sethu has previously appeared in the films 'Andor' and 'Mrs Sidhu Investigates'.
Gatwa, who also starred in “Barbie,” will remain in the role of the doctor.
Showrunner Russell T Davies, who rebooted the series in 2005, returned to write and executive produce the new seasons, which were co-produced by Bad Wolf.
Season 14 guests include Jasmine Feeney (“Heartstopper”), singer Bonnie Langford, Jonathan Groff from “Glee” and Indira Varma (“Obsession”), among others. The film “Doctor Who” celebrated its sixtieth anniversary last November.
