Beyoncé’s lyrics change to Dolly Parton’s classic song Jolene This was not what the song’s creator, Dolly Parton, expected.
Parton revealed to E! News that she didn’t know that Beyoncé was putting her own spin on the song.
“When they said it would Jolene, I was expecting this to be my favorite, but it wasn’t. But I love what you did with it. As a songwriter, you love the fact that people perform your songs no matter how they do them.
“Well, I think it was very bold of her,” Barton said.
Parton provided an introduction to Beyoncé’s version of Jolene On the Cowboy Carter Album. “Hello, Miss Honeybee. It’s Dolly Bee. You know that slut with the pretty hair you sang about? She reminded me of someone I knew at one time. Except she’s got flaming strands of auburn hair. Bless her heart. Just hair of a different color, but it hurts.” Himself”.
For her version, Beyoncé’s lyrics took a more aggressive approach. “I’m warning you, don’t come for my leg” instead of “Please don’t take my leg.”
“It takes more than beauty and seductive looks/To bring together a family and a happy man,” she sings. “Jolene, I’m a woman too/The games you’re playing aren’t new/So you don’t want to have fun with me, Jolene.”
