The richest man in the world said he did not own a home and often sleeps in the spare bedrooms of his friends.
In a recent interview with Chris Anderson from TEDElon Musk says he turned to surfing.
Musk, who has an estimated net worth of $269.5 billion, explained: Forbes.
“If I travel to the Bay Area, where most of Tesla’s engineering is, I basically cycle between my friends’ spare bedrooms,” added the father of seven.
Despite the surprising lifestyle of the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, the billionaire tech mogul has revealed the only luxury he indulges in.
When answering a question about the disparity in wealth in the United States between ordinary Americans and billionaires like him, Musk said, “Sure, it would be very difficult if I were spending billions of dollars a year in personal consumption, but that’s not the case.”
“It’s not like my personal consumption is high,” he continued, acknowledging that his private jet was the only exception.
“If I don’t use the plane, I will have fewer hours to work,” he added.
In June of last year, Musk tweeted That his primary residence is rented from SpaceX, valued at $50,000. Furthermore, the accommodation was convenient near the company’s location in Texas. In a tweet, he also admitted owning an “occasion house” in the Bay Area.
In May 2020 Musk became famous chirp“I am selling almost all material possessions. I will not own any home.”
