Gas prices in Florida on Thursday rose to a new record, and Florida is one of the 10 states that saw the biggest increases. The average on Wednesday was $4,321 and a week ago it was $4,176. “Gas prices are so high that they hamper my finances,” said Edwin Martinez, a Florida resident. Record high, $4.41 a gallon, but that’s a bargain compared to the price seen around town, $4.49, eight cents higher. “Have you ever paid that much money for gas in your life?” Wish request. “No, nobody has,” said Neil Trantham, another Florida resident. A year ago, gas was $3.00 per gallon, which is roughly $1.50 per gallon. Central Florida residents are sure of one thing – the high price of gas affects their budget and their lives. “I’m supposed to go to New Jersey and drive,” Martinez said. “I don’t think I would. It’s too expensive.” “Is there anything you can do to save money? Buy fewer groceries?” we asked. “Well, groceries are as big of an issue as gas,” Trantham said. “There’s not much you can do about it except pay.” As we approach $4.50 a gallon, the general consensus is that prices are way too high. Now, the state of Florida has just announced a move that will hopefully lower the price of gas in Florida, as the sale of a special winter gas blend will now be allowed, which will increase the supply of gas available for people to buy.
